Wall planter box

An acrylic box that holds the soil itself, with a pattern scored across both sides and the front. The pattern wraps around the corners. Hooks on the sides drop onto a hidden rail on the cabinet, so it lifts off to water at the sink.

Cut files

Red is cut. Blue is the pattern’s fine lines: score lightly. Green is its accent lines: score deeper or twice so they read bolder. Black text names the parts; delete it before cutting, or score it faintly.

Build order

Cut the fit coupon first. Push an offcut of the same sheet into each slot. Pick the slot that takes it with firm hand pressure and no wobble, and enter its number as the slot fit.
Cut the sheet with the masking on. The scoring goes through the masking, which keeps the frosted lines crisp. The pattern is on the up-facing side of the sheet, which becomes the outside of the box.
Dry-fit the box. Lay the left side flat, pattern down, and press in the floor, the grate and the front. Press the right side on, pattern up. Push the back wall onto the tabs; the hook plugs at the top slide into its two notches.
Seal it. Run thin acrylic cement (Weld-On 4) along every inside seam and tab, including the hook plugs. Use a thicker cement (Weld-On 16) along the front-to-floor seam, which has a small wedge gap from the lean. Let it cure overnight, then fill it with water in the sink for an hour to check for leaks.
Cement the two standoff pads together, then onto the back of the box along the bottom edge. They hold the bottom off the cabinet by the same amount as the rail.
Cement the rail face onto the rail spacer, bottom edges and ends flush. Hold the rail level on the cabinet side where the box's top edge should sit, mark the holes, and drill pilot holes. Put a dab of silicone in each hole to keep sink splashes out of the cabinet panel. Drive the screws through the big holes; their heads seat on the spacer, flush with the face.
Hang it. Lift the box above the rail, then lower it so the hooks drop behind the rail face and into its two notches. Tap Lift off in the preview to see how they engage.
Lay landscape fabric or a coffee filter on the grate, then add soil. To water, lift the box off and take it to the sink. If you overwater, tip the extra out of the reservoir there.
